Everything Will Improve After THIS Election!!!  NOT!

A few evenings ago I watched the 1952 film titled “VIVA ZAPATA!” starring Marlon Brando as Emiliano Zapata, the Mexican revolutionary of the early 1900’s. The film was directed by Elia Kazan and written by John Steinbeck. Emiliano temporarily becomes the president of Mexico, but (contrary to custom), Emiliano has refused all land grants or gifts to people who fought with him – including to himself and his brother (actor Anthony Quinn) who is reduced to poverty. Emiliano’s brother has stolen some peasants’ land (and their wives) and Emiliano resigns the presidency to resolve this situation.

After arguing with his brother, Emiliano speaks to the few peasants gathered around him inside the villa (written by John Steinbeck):

“This land is yours! But you must protect it. It won’t be yours long if you don’t protect it. If necessary with your lives. And your children with their lives.

Don’t discount your enemies!! They will be back! And if your house is burned, built it again. If your corn is destroyed, replant. If your children die, bear more. If they drive you out of the valley, live on the sides of the mountain, but live.

You’ve always looked for leaders: strong men without faults. There aren’t any!!! They’re only men like yourselves. They change. They desert. They die. There are no leaders but yourselves. A strong people is the only lasting strength!”

I recall the 1956 re-election of Dwight Eisenhower. I was too young to know or care much about politics. I remember only that my parents were delighted; and that during a local children’s show the host continued to drink a glass of milk every day with a large photo of President Eisenhower behind him, accompanied by the national anthem.

With the 1960 election, I was “for Kennedy”, while my parents were for Nixon. I knew nothing about their positions on issues, but watching the televised debates convinced me I was right. Nixon was sweating and shifting his weight from foot to foot; Kennedy looked tanned and confident. Most historians today will admit that Nixon actually won the election, but due to election fraud Kennedy became president.

With the assassination of Kennedy, Johnson became president; then ran for election in 1964 against Barry Goldwater. I recall only several things from that campaign: the TV ad by Johnson showing a nuclear bomb exploding (implying that Goldwater’s election would result in nuclear war);  one of Goldwater’s slogans, “In your heart you know he’s right.”; and a classmate’s retort to that Goldwater slogan, “In your guts you know he’s nuts!”

Soon after came the full-scale Vietnam War and Johnson’s “Great Society”. A few friends died in Vietnam; the Great Society did not appear to be changing anything for the better; and my parents complained of ever higher taxes to the point where my mother was required to find a job to pay the bills. I started paying much more attention to political, fiscal and monetary issues thanks in large part to my father’s discussion of such issues at home and with my uncles. I was amazed at how “smart” my Dad had suddenly become! Most of all, I recall he and my uncles repeating the phrase, “The more things change, the more they stay the same.” (This saying comes from the French adage, “Plus ça change, plus la meme chose.“)  What they meant was that, regardless of who was elected president – despite all the promises made – the life of the working man and his family seldom improved.

About the same time, while in high school, a very well-informed classmate informed us that U.S. coins would no longer contain silver, but instead would be some shiny metal with a copper center. It hit us: real money (the silver coin) was being replaced with coins of no intrinsic value. (We were already aware of that the Federal Reserve Notes, issued by the private Federal Reserve, were supposedly backed up by gold – but only for foreign nations; NOT for the ordinary American. By definition,  in terms of money a “NOTE” is a written promise to pay you back in REAL MONEY the amount you paid for the note – plus interest – at some stated date in the future. So, Federal Reserve notes (FRNs) – what people call “U.S. Dollars” – are simply a promise to pay you back with REAL MONEY at some future date. Before the late 1960’s that meant perhaps being paid back in silver coins. But with silver coins having been replaced for the new copper-center coins (of no real intrinsic value), for what REAL MONEY (with some intrinsic value) could Federal Reserve notes be redeemed? Then in 1971, Nixon suspended the gold and silver standards completely. U.S. dollars were now backed by nothing; the Federal Reserve could keep printing U.S. dollars at will; and the resulting loss of purchasing power of the dollar would soon follow (what we call “inflation”). We also knew that all “fiat” (by decree) paper currencies eventually reach their intrinsic value: NOTHING.

Flash forward to President Obama. His numerous promises were summed up by his primary slogan, “Hope and Change”. Obama was going to stop the disastrous wars and foreign interventions begun by Bush-1, Bill Clinton and Bush-2. The economy was going to be revived and power of the large banks reigned in by repealing the Dodd-Frank Act and re-enacting the Glass-Steagall Act. Obama’s “Affordable Care Act” (so-called “ObamaCare”), whose contents was never revealed to the public or many members of Congress PRIOR to its passage, has resulted in massive increases in the costs of health insurance coverage. Worst of all, never in American history was an American FORCED to purchase a product from a private company or be forced to pay a fine! The TSA, NSA and other “security agencies” were revealed to be spying continuously on the American people – without any “probable cause” detailed in a sworn, signed and sealed affidavit by a government official and the subsequent issuance of a warrant by a judge. The 4th Amendment had been eviscerated!

Amendment IV

“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause [evidence of a crime], supported by oath or affirmation [in the form of a sworn, signed and notarized affidavit], and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

In addition, other federal agencies have greatly expanded their powers. The entire Bill of Rights (including the right of “free speech and to assemble” in the 1st Amendment) has been greatly restricted. State and federal statutes have been enacted allowing the seizure of property upon “mere suspicion” that they might be or have been used in a crime: CIVIL FORFEITURE. And the owner must prove that this assertion is NOT true in order to regain his property – the reverse of our rights guaranteed in the 5th Amendment.

Amendment V

“No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.”

Finally, President Obama, via Executive Orders, has declared the right of the president to seize ALL assets of the people in a “national emergency”; and to execute (“murder”) any man or woman whom he deems a “threat to national security” – including American citizens! And he has already done so to at least two American citizens.

The following questions therefore arise:

  • WHY do many American people get so emotionally involved, often to the point of violence, in WHO will become the next president of the U.S?
  • WHEN in your lifetime has the election of any president (or ANY politician) improved the lives of you and your family?
  • WHY in Hell do you even bother to vote?
  • WHY do you not just do what you want to do (but causing no harm to any man/woman or his/her property) and ignore the acts, statutes, regulations, etc. legislated by your local, state and federal governments?

Stop waiting for the “Knight on his white horse” to cure the nation’s and your troubles! He is NOT coming! He is NEVER coming!

As Emiliano Zapata stated in the film:

“You’ve always looked for leaders: strong men without faults. There aren’t any! They’re only men like yourselves. They change. They desert. They die. There are no leaders but yourselves. A strong people is the only lasting strength!”

Become your own leader!

“The more things change, the more they stay the same.” (in French: “Plus ça change, plus la meme chose.“)
